animal magnets

Looking for a more affordable way to give this gift to my holiday hosts, I came up with a very easy way to make an entire bunch of adorable animal magnets for giving this season. They are quite happy to look at and will make the notes of shopping and dinner preparations even more pleasant reminders.

These magnets are super easy to make. Purchase a pile of children’s animal toys and grab a can of spray paint in your favorite color. Cut each animal in half (a simple kitchen knife works just fine for this). Spray paint the animals in the color you’ve chosen. After the animals are dry stick an adhesive magnet onto the back of each animal. I used hot glue to top the adhesive for an extra strong grip.

Gift a pair together as a thank you for dinner, or a whole set with a stack of pretty note taking paper for an extra special host.

blessings.

  1. This is a really cool idea :) The photo of the leopard (or tiger? or jaguar?) getting cut in half made me laugh out loud. It looks like a still from a crazy Godzilla-era movie. So funny!

  2. Hi! I am also making the same animal magnets. I was wondering what type of magnets you glued to the back. The magnet strip I bought at Michaels does not hold up anything! Thanks.
