The ASR Studio Tour!

The ASR Studio Tour!

We’ve recently dedicated a room in our home to function as my blogging studio. It was originally an outdated walkout basement media room. We brightened the space up and added functional elements throughout the room. From a backdrop hanger to a rolling cart to store all our ribbon and balloons – there are sneaky colorful details everywhere.

Our festive space on the internet has always been filled with a specific bright and funky style, and now I have that same fun look in a workspace that I get to enjoy daily! It makes me quite happy and I’m excited to show you around the finished space today.

But first to show you what it looked like before.

Before/After studio tour

I saw the potential in this room the moment we walked in. One of the first things we did was tear out that falling apart bench seat (it was rotting and so gross!). We replaced the pet stained carpet with this indestructible herringbone vinyl tile which is the best flooring ever for an at home studio or office.

Then I got to work making the space one to love.

The walls were painted to brighten them up with Behr Bakery Box, the same color we used throughout the house and I had a custom wood base molding installed around the room. Originally, the plan was to paint the molding white, but the wood texture is so pretty I had to leave it pure pine.

Pretty Home Studio

Finding a functional space to work from home allows me to continue on blogging even when a sick kid is home! It really creates a lifestyle business that matches what I love. I can’t imagine a better gig.

Wallpaper love!

Happy Birthday

Since most of the room needs to be kept white for photo shoots, we went really bright on the one wall we don’t shoot against! We used a crazy bright wallpaper from Spoonflower that only needed a quick water bath to install. It makes me smile everytime I look at it. I think when you only have a small decorating area to work with, going large and graphic is almost always the right idea.

Pink Cake

PInk Settee

Pretty pink sofa

Now… can we talk about my love for this hot pink sofa!!! We got this fun hot pink settee from Hayneedle that is sweetly on brand and combined with a faux marble table makes a sitting area for team meetings and mid-day breaks. You guys I’m pretty sure if I were to ever have written my own job description as a child, working in a place where a hot pink sofa centered the room would have definitely been on my list. ;) It is literally my favorite piece of furniture in the entire house right now.

the season to sparkle

We also revamped and covered the window seat with a pink fur top. I originally wanted to get something custom made, but then found these four pillows that fit the spot perfectly and were much a more affordable option. I’ll be sharing a full DIY on making this faux fur bench cover next week.

Home office

Home office details

Creative Home office
My desk is from Target and the hexagon mirror on the wall is a vintage treasure I love. The colorful prints next to my desk are actually illustrations I had commissioned from our first book, Materially Crafted. The heart wreath is project from our second book, Make In A Day: Pom Pom Crafts and the sketch of Prague is from a holiday collaboration we did with Minted. I love having past projects surround me while we continue to move forward – it’s a great way to decorate and celebrate everything we have to be grateful for.

Ikea Closet Hack

Pink props

As far as organization we’ve utilized some closed storage where I keep bins filled with supplies and a prop closet for quick photo shoot style changes. Let’s just say, in this line of work… you always need an extra pink tutu on hand!

We hacked a very affordable Ikea wardrobe (it’s only $100!) to create this storage space. We left off one of the doors, afixed the entire thing to the wall for safety and used our favorite drawer pulls from the kitchen to create a pretty look on the cheap.

We also used a tool cart which has the perfect size drawers for organizing craft supplies and it fits our happy hour mini-bar. Score! I shared a few of my favorite home office organizing hacks, including how I organized the drawers of this tool cart – right here.

My love of all things bright in this room continues this vintage mailbox cubby. I found it a couple years ago at a local treasure shop, The Nest. I scraped off the old doctor office labels, put wheels on it and gave the cubbies new life as storage for glitter, ribbon, balloons and all the knick knacks we use daily.

Finding a working solution for the paper storage was a big deal. The ASR team uses a lot of paper daily for backdrops and projects. To corral it all, I grabbed these pretty baskets for the smaller rolls and made this rolling cart DIY for the big ones.

Working everyday in this inspiring space feels like a dream and really makes me ready to tackle all the new projects coming our way!

Here is the big list of sources we used in the space, in case your own office is needing a bit of a pink upgrade:
