Balloon numbers

Balloon numbers

One of the easiest backdrops we’ve done for a party is sticking balloons directly onto the wall. You don’t even need helium – just blow up and stick. Putting the balloons in a number configuration is an easy way to take any wall and make it into a party!

I love easy peasy party ideas – like taping balloons on a wall and sticking funky lollipops into a cake. Sometimes it’s the simplest ideas that can really make a birthday great.

Make a balloon number on the wall!

When you are creating a space to celebrate, finding quick ways to do it will leave more time for planning other important elements… like the cocktails. Cheers to that!

To get the balloons to stick for a party, use a good quality tape wrapped in a circle (sticky side out) on the back of each balloon. This old school way of making double sided tape works best for the balloons because it has a good amount of bounce and give. Plain double sided tape does not work as well, the balloons tend fall as they shift and move.

Create each number by starting in the middle of the wall, and the middle of the number. Move upwards and downwards placing the balloons until the number takes shape. Don’t worry about perfection here – they are balloons after all! It also helps to have a couple different size balloons to fill in gaps and add depth as you go.

Add a few extra balloons on the floor and a simple cake and you can pull a birthday together in about 20 minutes flat.

Here are a few other genius party tips.

  1. This is a really interesting and fun idea! I have been trying to find unique ways to decorate the house for my sons birthday; I was kind of tired of the usual streamers and signs. I had never thought to tape the balloons directly on the wall. You’ve given me an idea that I think will work really well, thank you!
