fabric transfer tablecloth

Something about the summer months makes me want to revamp everything in my house, making each piece lighter and more beautiful. Especially when I know there is a party coming up. Yet, in mid-July the back to school section is filling up, so the change must not be too permanent.

To give my tables an air of breezy summer, I bought two yards of white linen and used fabric transfer hearts in a gorgeous salmon color (download the hearts by clicking here). The result is a fresh look for summer entertaining that can easily be switched out when the days begin to cool down.

Make the tablecloth by purchasing a packet of printable fabric transfers. Download the heart PDF onto your computer (or design your own transfer if you’d prefer). Print out onto the transfer paper using an ink jet printer and cut out your design to shape. Place the heart where you would like on the tablecloth printed side down. Using an iron set to the highest non-steam setting, iron on the transfer according to your package directions. Carefully peel off the backing then wash according to package directions to set the transfer so it will last season after season.

Just a tip: unwashed fabrics work best with these transfers so do not launder your yardage before applying the decal transfer.
