Every old house has it’s quirks. When you rent an old home that is listed well under market value there are bound to be a few strange issues.
Like this wall.
Not exactly my style, it seems to make the wall look bruised- ouch!
The couple who own this home were sadly separated when the husband passed away, but not before he had the opportunity to paint a gaudy Venetian mural on the living room wall. Note, this is also the main wall you see when entering our home. We were explicitly told to not paint over this mural as she wants it saved as a remembrance of her husband, but hanging art on it is perfectly fine.
Here is our solution.
Wood boards painted and hung creating a new wall over the existing ghostly painting. Plus an already owned Ikea bookcase to incorporate the wall into what is now our reading room.
It’s great fun to work through the quirks and challenges this home is throwing our way. Do you have any experience with strange quirky old house issues? I would love to hear about them.
blessings.

So pretty!!!
You are sooo creative!
That looks awesome! How did you attach those boards to that wall — it looks like plaster or concrete [?]. Very creative.
That wall looks horrible…I can’t believe how amazing you made it look! Good job!! I can’t wait to see you soon!
I need to get that blue paint colors name you use in all your houses. We inherited blue in our house and Jeff LOVES It. I am not the biggest fan of the hue or paint job though.
Your paint color is PERFECT, of course. Can you share your color and paint brand please?
Thanks much!
Such a good job! I found you through BetterAfter. Keep up the good work. love it!

What a great idea to cover the mural like that.
What a creative idea! I love it! AND I really really like that photo art decor you did too!… with the music sheets and a photo on top! That’s beautiful!!!
