my favorite things (family photos!)

With the current trend towards natural family photos, I knew I wanted to do something special with our latest. Something that captured not just smiles, but snippets of our life. We definitely aren’t the “Leave it to Beaver” kind of family. So I came up with a different concept of using our favorite things. Each of us picked two of our favorite items from this season in life and went out to have our pics snapped. They are all my favorite!

If you like the idea here are a few tips…

  • I brought a poster board out with me, and made sure to capture a shot of each favorite item to go along with the personal photo – lending an artistic touch to the final photos. They will look great framed this way!
  • I had everyone pick out two items, that way if one idea dosen’t turn out, the concept isn’t lost.
  • I made sure to get family shots with our favorites as well, since we often enjoy sharing our passions with together.
  • Lastly, I tried to encourage everyone not to think too hard about it. The items didn’t have to be eternal, just something they love right now. I want to continue this trend every summer, and watch how our favorite things will change.

My favorite this year is definitely the chocolate berry garden cake. Oh man, it was good!

  1. these turned out FANTASTIC! What a great session.

We too aren’t the “leave it to beaver” type of fam so it’s nice to find a photographer who can capture moments rather than get everyone to smile at the camera. I always liked how bobbie made our photos feel natural and not forced, which is rare to find in a photog.
