Continuing our festive advent countdowns, here’s a fun idea that the grown-ups will get into too! It’s as simple as picking your favorite treat; I made Oreo cookie balls with caramel, hard shell chocolate, and sea salt. After showing some serious constraint (they are so delicious!), I numbered each cookie ball for the countdown. You could use any treat or a mixture to make a countdown that will be sweet the entire month long.
To make the Oreo cookie balls Advent countdown you will need; 1 pkg. (8 oz.) brick cream cheese – softened, 36 OREO Cookies – finely crushed (about 3 cups), 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate – melted, one package of baking caramel – melted down, hardshell chocolate covering, and sea salt.
Make the cookie balls by mixing the cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended. Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls into melted caramel and melted chocolate. Place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Cover with hardshell chocolate topping and sprinkled sea salt. I used a stash of brightly colored numbered birthday candles to finish our countdown off.
