Felt Ball Rainbow Cake Topper

To make the felt ball rainbow cake topper you’ll need:

How to make a rainbow cake topper

1. Start making the rainbow felt cake topper by inserting the wire into the first felt ball, turn the wire in a constant motion to get it through.

2. Continue pushing the wire through each felt ball (elbow grease necessary!). Once you thread a rainbow’s worth of felt ball colors, shape the wire into a rainbow shape, leaving about 2 inches exposed wire on each end of the rainbow.

3. Stick the two ends of the wire into the cake for a lucky dose of bright fun.

The felt balls are easily moved off the wire and you can reuse them for other projects. Follow the same directions with a much longer wire to create the felt rainbow garland to go along with the cake.

Use this sweet rainbow cake topper detail to finish off any Saint Patrick’s Day treat & brighten up the week with colorful, lucky style!

  1. This is a cute idea, but I’m not a fan of the lint and fuzzies from the felt balls touching the frosting. I think it would be better to use gumballs – just something edible.
