Recap 2012: Favorite Party Projects

I love this time of year. Before looking ahead to the new year with all it’s possibilities, I look back and celebrate what has happened over the last year – and 2012 was pretty amazing! Over the next couple days I will be sharing some of my favorite projects from the past year, and notes of excitement for the new year. Happy New Year and hooray for 2013.

To kick the recap series off, here are my favorite DIY party projects of the last year.

This might be my absolute favorite project from the entire year–the bright balls of garland is so simple to make and stunning when hung.

These vintage ribbon party blowers are a sweet way to incorporate whimsy and style to a party or wedding.

A length of this favorite DIY veneer wooden chain will fit into just about any style celebration.

DIY floral corks make for a gorgeous bar and they are great to bundle as hostess gifts as well.

The bright hues of these bright fortune cookie favors were a great lift to my spirits late last winter.

To welcome spring, I crafted these simple polygon paper vases and stuck mason jars inside.

These bright paper wreaths make for easy wrapping in miniature form and lend a huge statement to the wall when done in full-size.

As the weather turned warmer outside, these easy outdoor candle stakes helped our parties to continue into the dusky late nights.

I went on a bit of an accordion paper binge this year. These DIY accordion party hats were great fun to create, as well as the paper accordion garland and origami accordion wrapping. I have a few more accordion projects coming in 2013.

We invited friends to join us for the first harvest of fall (yay garlic!) with these cute and printable garrlic harvest party invites.

As a start to our fall and holiday season, these printable pie box favors became a favorite way to box up a seasonal favorite.

The list of 25 great fonts for paties wins the award for most popular post of the year.

The temporary confetti dot glasses (which are still in my cabinet), brightened up our holiday festivities.

To celebrate Christmas, we launched a new issue of the magazine – complete with adorable projects like these glitter tassel animal ornaments.

It was a great year for party projects and I look forward to sharing even more in 2013 – see the complete DIY gallery right here.
