ruffled table runner

Disney has been one for my favorite crafters for a very long time. Mostly because she comes up with the greatest ideas using simple everyday materials. Like this amazing use of two very cheap plastic table cloths! Most of us have them lying around and they look surprisingly pretty when ruffled together.

To make the runner, buy 2 plastic table covers and cut a 20″ and 15″ strip from each one. Lay the 15″ on top of the 20″ and sew a gathering stitch (strait stitch on longest length) strait down the middle. Repeat for other strips. Gently pull the top thread only to gather all the way down both runners and tie threads (credit Staley source). Use the gathering threads to tie the two runners together.

A sweet idea for an outdoor party or shower this season.

  1. What a beautiful outcome for such a simple idea. I love it! Congratulations on the magazine feature. I just may have to try it for my Valentines Couples’ Dinner that I am hosting.
    Thanks,
    Tami
