SHISHITO PEPPER CREAM CHEESE WONTONS

Fall gatherings call for party snacks that are tasty and fun. From tailgates to classroom get-togethers, bringing a platter of these shishito cream cheese wontons will make you the party star. The wontons are creamy and crispy. They are a great option for wowing and impressing a room full of guests.

The wonton filling is very easy. There’s Philadelphia Cream Cheese, parmesan, garlic, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Philadelphia Cream Cheese is made with fresh milk, real cream, and no preservatives. Nothing else tastes like it. Keep it simple or experiment by adding crab or different cheeses. The tasty possibilities are endless. I baked these for our upcoming tailgate party – they are a great food to snack on while watching the game, but they would taste amazing fried as well. Like everything does. ;)

Shishito Cream Cheese Wontons

To make the Shishito Cream Cheese Wontons you will need:

• 16 shishito peppers
• 1 pkg. wonton skins
• (1) 8 oz. Philadelphia Cream Cheese block, softened
• 1/2 c. parmesan cheese
• 1 tsp. minced garlic
• 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
• Salt and pepper
• 2 Tbsp. melted butter

(1 serving = 2 wontons)

1. Stir together the cream cheese, parmesan, garlic, soy sauce, and salt and pepper.

2. Overlap two wonton wrappers, securing the seam with warm water. (Check the wonton wrapper instructions if you’ve never done this before). Add 1 tbsp. of the cream cheese mixture evenly in the center and place a shishito pepper on top. Wet the edges of the wonton and roll the wonton wrapper around the pepper, being sure to tuck the bottom end under so the filling doesn’t leak out during baking. Secure edges with more water if needed.

3. Arrange the peppers on a non-stick sprayed baking sheet. Brush each pepper with butter and bake at 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until brown and crispy. Enjoy!
