    hosting a champagne bar

03.01.11 Posted in design, drinks, labels & prints, showers, summer, wedding by Victoria

I designed a classic champagne bar to give substance our our Ralph Lauren inspired spring wedding inspiration. It was a fabulously fun play on the icon’s favorite of bar selections.

If you are looking for an affordable way to include drinks this spring, consider a champagne bar. A few simple ingredients per glass will treat your guests to a refreshing and tasty beverage. Each drink is easy to make and will stand up well for party serving.

Download all four of the drink labels, including classic champagne cocktail recipies here. For a special touch attach a corresponding tag to each glass and allow guests to slide off the recipies, recreating their favorite selections at home.

    courted by Ralph

03.01.11 Posted in decor, design, editorial shoots, events, labels & prints, spring parties, weddings by Victoria

A few months ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to partner with a few of my favorite local vendors to produce wedding inspiration based on the fashion icon Ralph Lauren, for Nonpareil mag. We took cues from his classic line and used traditional pieces in a fun and unexpected way.

Setting up the design court-side gave a whimsy to our timeless table, and the use of beautiful spring colors are a perfect welcome to March. Hooray for spring! The beautiful cake was created by Melody of Sweet and Saucy.

Leigh Anne owner of The Floral Lab created a couple of amazing floral tennis balls, they were the perfect accompaniment to our table. She also chose Calla Lilies to represent the clean and traditional inspiration of the day. The mirrored table top was a lovely way to bounce light around and show off the flowers. We had a bit of fun placing it around the court for a few special photos.

Our table held the makings of a classic champagne bar, see the bar with classic champagne recipies and drink labels here. Favor tags can be downloaded here.

Tennis racket “bunting”, sweets, pretty florals, the perfect drinks and gorgeous photos taken by Jackie Wonders make this shoot a perfect way to welcome spring together.

PS. Thanks for the emails yesterday, I do know my comment button is broken at the moment. So sorry. If you’d like to leave a comment while it gets fixed, simply click the post title and you will have the option below. You are all the best. Happy March!

    A perfect style.

12.07.10 Posted in design, inspiration by Victoria

Holly always finds the most amazing new designers to showcase, when I saw this table designed by Cecilie Manz last week I was astonished. Not so much for the table as for the detailed photography design, which is one of my favorites ever! Love… love… love… the play on heavy earthy elements with a note of perfect childish whimsy.

I have begun to collect a pile of inspirational photography designs for an exciting project I am working on next year. If I had to choose a perfect style for my dreams of what this new project would be- this design is it. Looking forward to sharing how I’ll use the different elements very soon.

    Dreaming in a vintage storybook

12.03.10 Posted in design, inspiration, weekend by Victoria

In the midst of all our holiday hoopla, I almost for got to tell you- we are having a very special birthday party for my sweet little babies who are turning two this week and not really babies at all these days!

I have been immersed in vintage storybook design all week in preparation and I cannot wait to celebrate their unique and special story. This frog trapped in a bottle perfectly portrays the whimsical notions that have inspired the magical birthday design.

I have also drawn fabulous inspiration from the storybook looks here, here, here, here & here. Have a happy weekend and I look forward to filling you in on the festive styling soon.

PS. Next week my favorite of the Christmas designs will be up!

    Interrupted celebrations

12.02.10 Posted in design, Holiday by Victoria

Spotted this video on Grey last week and have contemplated sharing it ever since. I’ve decided it is too wonderful not to post even though it is an advertisement- an interrupted celebration that could not be any more lovely!

Serious inspiration to be found in a dark wooden table coming out of a trunk, in the middle of a field + silver candle holders. Genius… Expect something fun to come from this inspiration as soon as I can manage it!

    Celebrating at home.

09.03.10 Posted in design, inspiration by Victoria

I often hear laments from people with homes that are not suited to throw celebrations. May I direct your attention to an amazing work of art, Mon repos aux Tuileries

This photo reminds me, with the right outlook any place can be primped up & made ready to celebrate, even an old van run amuck in a Paris fountain!

PS. Have a fabulous holiday weekend.

    blessings.
