Antlers for fall

08.19.10 Posted in design, inspiration by Victoria

A sneak peak of the rustic fall engagement party…

As a style statement for the recent engagement party, I tied a porcelain white deer head to a tree in the woods- I named him Roger, he is awesome:) It was such a fun contrast to the woodsy rustic feel of the evening.

Antlers are surely one of my new favorite home trends- I think they would liven up any affair as well. Here are a few of my favorites…

Not available until mid-September, but totally worth the wait- an adorable mini version.
Anthropologie always has the most unique takes on my favorite trends.
A DIY to make your own stuffed animal head.
Affordable wall antler decals that come in any color.
&
A recipe to make your own antler dessert.

PS. Thanks to the Z-gallerie for loaning this amazing deer head as a part of our celebration.

Celebrating fall trends

08.10.10 Posted in inspiration by Victoria

Today I am styling a rustic, fall inspired engagement party- wearing suede boots and all:) The design has been prompted by the lovely fall trends popping up around us. Vintage crates abounding, I am using glass in new ways and nodding the coming season with gorgeous textures and warmth inducing treats. Hoping for a very enjoyable evening in the midst of this late summer month.

Here are a few photos that have inspired the party and my ever growing vision of fall.

Inspired by… Found Vintage

06.18.10 Posted in inspiration, Momhood by Victoria

After a vacation, a sick week and a whole lot of planning, this weekend I am finally feeling serious about getting to work on a couple upcoming summer projects!

This table just screams old fashioned summer celebration to me. I love the colors, the bunches of candy and the amazing detail on the table. Everything I have seen from Found Vintage Rentals has this same fabulous indie-summer-in-a-field vibe. I am so excited to be collaborating with them on an upcoming design and look forward to sharing it with you soon.

A few other inspirations for your weekend:

An easy to replicate cupcake liner template

A post card that will make you laugh, even in Chinese

A cake that will make you drool

Cards to purchase that will make your day brighter

Clowns as big as you

A paper bouquet that would be so much fun to carry

Vintage lemonade labels that will liven up a hot afternoon

PS. This is the last weekend you have to picnic for the contest! Don’t forget to snap a few photos and enter them HERE.

Inspired weekend- picnic on the beach

06.04.10 Posted in inspiration, Momhood by Victoria

Although the Crew-Cuts line may run a bit out of my baby clothes price range, they sure do have extremely inspiring photo styling. Their latest catalog makes taking the kids to the beach this weekend seem like a wonderfully charming idea.

Sticks in the ground, a few old colorful sheets hanging overhead, a towel or two below and what a lovely picnic afternoon would be had by all.

Enjoy your weekend, have a picnic.

Fabric tape cupcake flags

05.28.10 Posted in design, inspiration, party by Victoria

Last week I was quite inspired by the tutorial for fabric tape I found here, originally found here.

Quickly remembering a perfect loose piece of fabric I had been saving for just an occasion as this- a vintage, stripped, worn and soft pillowcase. I grabbed it out and was thrilled to whip up a batch of this lovely tape.

My version was tweaked from the original fabric tape tutorial. I used masking tape, modge-podge and freezer paper, since it was what I had on hand. The tape came together quickly and beautifully. It could be used to wrap many spring party presents in style.

As lovely as tape is though, it doesn’t inspire me quite like a decedent cupcake would… and so, to celebrate Matt being done with his finals this week and to welcome in summer officially starting…

I give you fabric tape cupcake flags!

Standing boldly on my favorite recipe in all the world.

Such an easy way to say hello to this new and lovely season.

In other news, congrats to Jenna for winning our sponsor giveaway this week!!!

Next week will be a lovely welcome to summer with Sherbert photos and a grand kickoff for our month of picnicking. The prize package is almost complete and is HUGE! So grab your blanket this weekend, get out under a tree and snap a few pictures for us- The contest will start Tuesday.

Until next week- enjoy being lovely because you really are:)

Inspired weekend- wine

05.14.10 Posted in inspiration, Momhood by Victoria

This kind of day has popped up on me…

The kind of day where you just have to laugh at the wine ring left on your favorite fabric. Laugh… Cry…. Really what’s the difference?

Four parties in three weeks starting tonight, I am so looking forward to sharing the designs with you. Signing off now in hopes that the day will change its pace for me!

Hope you have a wonderfully inspiring weekend, sans wine ring- see you back here with the first of the designs Monday.

Inspired weekend- Farm fresh

05.07.10 Posted in inspiration by Victoria

We have great friends coming to spend the weekend with us. I am excited to see them and to show off our new city by taking them strawberry picking, seriously drooling just thinking about the fresh off the vine taste. I love summer- the stands of fresh fruit and farmers markets galore. I am also busy working on a design that will be done later this summer using funky & fresh vegetable decor ideas. Basically, I am head over heels with fresh off the farm inspiration this weekend, enjoy….

(Veggie table-scape at its best)

Others inspired by the farm-

A wedding so fresh I can taste the herbs.
A very sweet garden marker that would have surly helped my sad attempt.
Artichokes as candle holders, lovely since they are finally in season.
The least likely farm animal to be this dang photogenic.
Find your own farm to pick fresh fruits and veggies at.
How to create an edible vegetable bouquet for your next party.
An adorable striped bag for carrying your vegetables home.
A drink to serve while enjoying your farm fresh meal.
90 recipies made from a neighborhood market.
The university districts Farmer’s market is the largest in Seattle, I used to walk here on weekends. I still miss the amazing, fresh muscles- go if you have the chance.

PS. Still in need of a Mother’s Day gift? My free printable labels wrapped around a bouquet + a dozen vintage bike tied cookies will make her day!

Sly Fox- inspiration board

Next weekend we will gather to celebrate the coming of a little boy who’s name remains a secret. For now we just refer to hm as the little sly fox, a sweet and mysterious one.

Plus, how sweet is this print called Fox Boy by Trafalgarssquare. Be still my heart, be still.

Inspired weekend- the good ol’days

04.30.10 Posted in inspiration by Victoria

I’ve been working with a group of wonderful women this week planning and preparing for an upcoming party entitled- Sherbet & Spice. A party filled with old fashioned fun, ice cream, and lovely vintage touches. It is an event that takes us all back to the good ol’ days of chalk drawing, hula hooping and lazy summer afternoons. I have been incredibly inspired by our plans.

(good ol’ chalk)

More touches of old fashioned loveliness:

The good ol’days wouldn’t exist without Mrs. Crocker and her party ideas, what an amazing book.
A supremely inspiring ice cream parlor buffet.
A pair of earrings as yummy as a layered ice cream cone.
A pink kite that reminds me of very lovely things indeed- his whole site is actually amazing, be prepared to waste an hour.
Dreamy engagement post-cards from a long ago time.
Fabric in all the right hues.
Individual pies tied up with good ol’ yarn as sweet party favors.
An old fashion ice cream recipe that makes my mouth water.
Lastly, a great kids game from the past that is perfect to make today.

blessings.

PS. I don’t know why but thinking of vintage circa 1950′s always brings to mind laying in the sun in a glamorous swim suit & eating ice cream. A great plan for this warm weekend ahead.
