Easy back to school lunch ideas

We are headed back to school this week, which means back to lunch making for us! Instead of getting stuck in the same old routine this year, we are injecting a dose of fun and ease to our school lunch prep. Here are 2 easy lunch ideas for crafting your own lunches that are filled with back-to-school fun.

Back to school lunch stickers

Sending encouraging notes with the kids in their lunch boxes is an easy way to bring fun into the back to school lunch ideas game. We grabbed a pack of these color star cutouts and a pad of stickers to create our own daily notes. It’s easy to whip up a month’s worth of these in about 5 minutes. They’re a fun surprise to find hiding under the crackers and will bring a bright smile to any kid who’s feeling a little blue about being back in school.

DIY lunchable

Whichever lunch idea you create, making back-to-school lunches fun and easy can be done in one quick trip to Target.

Back To School Lunch Ideas #1 Homemade Lunchable

The first of our back to school lunch ideas reminds me of a homemade lunchable, but made with much more love from wholesome ingredients at home.

Shaped cheddar cheese and crackers

  • 3 cheddar cheese cut outs (1 oz. cheese), We used a small cookie cut out to make these shapes and the kids were so excited about it.
  • 5 Ritz Crackers
  • 1/4 cup broccoli
  • 1 Tbsp. Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • Teddy Grahams Snacks
  • Danimals Strawberry Smoothie

We also include an individually wrapped Kleenex Wet Wipe, Gentle Clean in each lunch to make sure our kids leave without strawberry smoothie on their face. :)

Easy lunch ideas

All these quick and great lunch ideas fit perfectly in our Glad containers, making lunch as quick to pack as it is to dream up.

Easy Kids Lunch Idea #2 Kids Sushi

The second easy back to school lunch idea involves creating our own version of kids’ sushi (minus the stinky fish) which they’ll love! Slice into small pieces or leave together for a full roll to be enjoyed at lunchtime. Packing lunches with fun pineapple toppers and giving them a little something sweet will help the kids transition back to school with ease.

Vegetarian “sushi” rolls

  • 2 slices whole wheat bread, crust removed
  • 2 Tbsp. roasted red pepper hummus
  • 1/4 cup thin cucumber slides
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. crumbled reduced-fat feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries
  • Mini CHIPS AHOY! Cookies

Horizon Chocolate Milk

1 individually wrapped Kleenex Wet Wipe, Gentle Clean
