Abstract painted pumpkins

Colorful pumpkins > than orange ones

An equation that is just a fact of life. These abstract painted pumpkins make me so happy! They are bold, beautiful and a great way to make this Halloween the brightest one yet. Whether pumpkins are stacked on the porch, set as an arrangement on the table, or given out as favors (one mini pumpkin per guest), this colorful look will make them all more fun.

Using our easy to replicate abstract painting instructions – pumpkins will quickly come to life as their own little works of art this fall. I want to fill the entire house with them, today.

To make the abstract painted pumpkins you will need:

  • Craft Paint (We used Martha Stewart brand; Wedding Cake White, Mermaid Teal, Pink Dahlia, Beetle Black, Chamomile, Beach Glass and Granny Smith Green)
  • Mini Pumpkins
  • Paint Brushes

  1. Start by covering the pumpkins with multiple coats of white paint, letting each coat completely dry before adding the next.
  2. Add splashes of the bright colors, overlapping and in different sizes with a simple freehand stroke. Try out the stroke on a piece of paper before starting to get the look just right.
  3. Finish off each pumpkin by adding splashes of black paint which gives a modern texture and spunk to the look.

Spooky spiders and sticky cobwebs don’t stand a chance against these bright beauties.
