I love dreaming up creative ways to decorate our pumpkins (like abstract painted pumpkins or these birthday cake pumpkins). For this year’s bright and colorful pumpkin decorating, I decided to stick with our favorite pool float Halloween theme and turn the concept into some crazy fun pumpkins. These guys are so great because they are filled with colorful fun and they don’t involve any carving, so the kids can jump right in to help with decorating.
Animal Pool Float Pumpkins
To make the animal pool float pumpkins you will need:
- Medium sized pumpkins
- Paint and brushes
- Craft foam
- Scissors
- Hot glue or super glue
1. Start by cutting out the animal shapes from the craft foam. A beak, wings and tail is all you need for these favorite animal floats (just a head and tail for the unicorn).
2. Paint all the pieces and the pumpkin to match. Add painted details like a rainbow tail, eyes and beak for the birds. Adding a couple sweeps of a coordinating color can make the texture pop even more for the pumpkins.
3. Once all the pieces and the pumpkins are dry – glue the pieces together for a Halloween display filled with epic fun!
Once everything is glued and dried the pumpkins should last the month until Halloween. Enjoy a fun and funky Halloween display!
PS. The easiest pool float Halloween costumes and a unicorn pinata to match that pumpkin.
