I know that it’s the new year and Pinterest is filled with kale and cleanses, but I cannot resist a good birthday sweet. To not totally ignore the healthy trend around here, I figure we can add some fruit, a bit of yogurt, and call it a birthday smoothie! Cleanse approved (minus the whip cream and sprinkles, but then what’s the point of living?).
And what does every birthday smoothie need? A candle in a straw to blow out and then drink from (of course!). It’s the best way to quickly turn a morning smoothie into its best birthday form.
These birthday smoothies are not just good for lightening up in January though, they’d be great for any celebrating in the morning – a co-worker walking into an office, or kid’s morning before school. A healthy way to begin the celebrating early and still have room later on for cake.
To make your own banana berry birthday smoothie; Add 1 cup strawberries, 1 cup blueberries, 1 banana, 1 cup fat-free plain yogurt, 1 cup orange juice, and 1 cup ice to the blender. Blend until smooth and enjoy. I added the birthday sweets to make it extra special.

I love the idea of birthday smoothies. I am throwing my daughter a 2nd birthday party in about a month and I’ve been thinking of how I can serve smoothies to the little ones. We’ll have cake, too of course. Lovely photos!
What is the point indeed? This is a heavenly way to start a birthday!

I love the candle straws. Such a great idea to elevate plain candles!
What a fab idea, I love the look of these smoothies. Bet they taste good too!
