Boozy Freezer Pops

boozy-3

When we first heard about the option to make our own popsicles at home using zipzicles I was thrilled about creating treats for the kids during the hot summer months. I quickly learned that these handy little freezer pop holders weren’t only for kids and we started whipping up boozy adult versions to enjoy. A piece of nostalgia, but so much more fun!

This boozy freezer pop recipe has a pretty layered color effect which makes it great for celebrating the 4th of July (which is coming up in less than a month!). A gold paint marker creates a grown up version of stars & stripes on the sides turning the zipzicles into a pretty statement piece for all those holiday BBQ’s ahead.

Boozy Freezer Pops

To make this version of layered boozy freezer pops you will need the ingredients for all 3 types of frozen margaritas:

White (coconut) boozy freezer pops

  • 1 can cream of coconut
  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 1/2 cup toasted coconut (optional)

Red (strawberry) boozy freezer pops

  • 1 lb strawberries (hulled)
  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • 1/4-1/3 cup agave or honey to taste

Blue (lime) boozy freezer pops

  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup triple sec
  • blue food coloring (or you can add some blue curaçao if you have that on hand)

zips1. To make the freezer pops, blend all of the ingredients for one color in a blender. Set aside in a pitcher or glass while you blend the others. Repeat for all flavors that will be included.

2. For fun printed freezer pop containers, use a paint marker to create texture and design on the zipzicle package before filling.

3. Begin pouring each flavor into the zipzicles to layer. Seal and place in fridge until ready to serve!

Stars and stripes and the most refreshing popsicle around! I made a couple stashes of these boozy freezer pops & am now ready for all the summer fun BBQ’s, beach brunches and playdates ahead.
