Making a colorful tree is a seasonal favorite of mine. I’ve found that making a big pile of garland goes a long way in turning an ordinary tree into a celebratory one. Marquee garland, bubble gum garland and beaded garland are a few favorites from years before.
This year’s tree got a bright head start with spray painting and it was finished off with this fun braided streamer garland. The braids go a long way in making a tree look festive and are easy peasy to make. Plan a night in with Netflix and make enough of this garland to finish off the tree, the mantel, the staircase… Cover the entire house in bright braided garland for a holiday look worthy of unicorns.
To make the braided streamer Christmas garland you will need:
- Crepe paper streamers
- Scissors

- Cut each length of streamer into three sections. You can make the lengths as long or short as needed.
- Tape the top of the braid onto a table or wall and braid the three sections together.
- Hang on the tree, on the mantel, or use the braids to wrap presents!
Do you have your tree done yet? I have this little spray painted beauty up in the studio and I used the braided garland (and these ornament balls) on our big family tree this year too – it’s a great combo. Happy Braiding!
