Vibrant Rainbow Thread Wreath

I’m always on the look out for fun wreath ideas. This week I actually finished up writing an entire book about wreaths (more on this coming really soon!). Finding wreaths that don’t require me to keep flowers alive, but that still have a fun and bright vibe to them is always a win.

This vibrant rainbow version of a yarn hanging that includes pretty faux flowers is an easy way to brighten up a mantel or door. I love it so much! The wreath is not only crazy colorful, but it will also last long after that pretty spring bouquet has begun to wilt.

Using more permanent pieces like this to decorate for parties and weddings lends to decor that you can feel great about DIYing. I’m always willing to put in the crafting work for something that will be pretty and lasting.

Vibrant Rainbow Thread Wreath

Vibrant Rainbow Thread Wreath

To make the vibrant thread wreath you will need;

  • Embroidery thread in your favorite colors
  • About 5 bunches of colorful faux flowers
  • Copper jewelry wire
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue

1. Start by taking one length of the copper wire and stringing the thread through it. The easiest way I found to do this was to cut all the thread first to about 12 inches each, and then string one on at a time. Try to make sure to get the center line of the thread along the wire but you can always trim at the bottom if necessary.

2. Next take a similar length of the thread and use the hot glue to attach the flowers to the wire. Any combination would work, but I love the variation of the larger and smaller flower heads in a more subdued palette – be sure to add a few leaves as well.

3. Put the piece together with a third length of the copper wire formed in an upside down V shape. Twist the thread and the flower wires to it to hold into place. Then glue a few extra flowers to cover the connection points for a seamless look.

4. Trim the bottom of the thread to form an even line. We also used a comb to separate out the colorful thread.

Combining vibrant rainbow hues and pretty florals is a great way to introduce a bright look this spring.

Hang the modern funky wreath over a mantel, on a wall needing a dose of sunshine, or on the front door to greet guests. Ours has been getting lots of ohhs and ahhs from everyone who walks past it.

Ombre Petal Cake

There’s nothing like a ombre petal cake to let the entire world know, “I KNOW HOW TO BAKE A CAKE!”. It is a gorgeous showcase of cake decorating abilities that everyone will love. And the best part… It’s way easier to create that you might ever imagine. In fact you really don’t need to know much at all […]

A waffle bar birthday party

This post is done in partnership with Pam Cooking Spray. Waffles are a breakfast favorite in our house, so when my sweet girl turned seven, of course she requested a waffle-making party (a little Leslie Knope in the making). We set up a waffle bar on our huge dining table and let the birthday girl […]

Cake Presents

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here. In our house that means sugared cranberries, cookies and presents of course. Giving food presents to our acquaintances is something I love to do. I’m so excited to give these cake presents, they are just the right idea for a sweet and simple present exchange. […]

Color block paper wreath

Brighten up the Christmas decor with a colorful holiday wreath. Lauren Clay has long been one of my favorite artists and I love this wreath rendition we’ve created totally inspired by her work. Sometimes fine art can seem unattainable in our everyday house, but taking inspiration and creating our own DIY can result in a […]
