Peppermint Chocolate Popcorn

Folded origami candy boxes

Our evenings seem to be getting longer as the year winds down. Lots of family time playing games, a fire on… the things I love most about this time of year! Which also comes with evening snacking… Whether we are snuggling up with our little family, or entertaining friends, making peppermint chocolate popcorn is always a hit. A big bowl of it will be a treat everyone looks forward to this time of year.

To make the peppermint chocolate popcorn. Start by popping your popcorn (did you know you can make your own microwave popcorn!?!). For every 1 cup of popcorn kernels use 2 candy canes and 1/4 cup chocolate chips. Place the unwrapped candy canes in a plastic bag and smash. Add the peppermint candy canes, chocolate chips, and 2 tsp butter into the bowl of freshly popped popcorn. YUM!

For serving to a larger crowd try these simple origami fold boxes. They work as pretty appetizer holders for the popcorn, nuts, or anything you might want to serve. Get the folding directions right here and be sure to have plenty of extra popcorn on hand – this stuff goes quick!

    • Ana, Thanks for your suggestion! The post was a recipe and not a craft, but maybe in the future we can create a DIY post for the little boxes… They are fun. :)
