caramel sea salt ornaments

I am happy to welcome in holiday season 2011 by kicking off our week long DIY holiday gift guide!

Giving handcrafted can allow your Christmas season be more meaningful, peaceful and affordable. It leaves extra time and money to celebrate the people and purpose of the season. I’ve crafted up projects for everyone on ours lists and am really excited to share them throughout this week. I’ve also found hundreds of DIY gift ideas… really great ideas for crafted, thrifted and relational gifts that your family and friends will actually want to receive this year.

Kicking off our week, salted caramel ornaments! A perfect present to whip up in batches for the office, a classroom (kids will prefer hot cocoa ornaments made with peppermint, minus the caramel and salt). They are also a festive gift to hand out in mass at the neighborhood holiday party.

I designed this gift project for Brigitte magazine’s advent celebration guide. To recreate the small gifts; combine chocolate sauce, caramel and a dash of ground sea salt into each clear glass ornament. Attach a simple tag directing your recipients to add warmed milk and tie a paper straw along for a pretty finish.

  1. Yum…bring on all things chocolatey, salty and caramely! And maybe a little BBQ on the side!
Ps, wheres my cow “friend” shirt? What would one wear to “go” with it?!
