Pom pom garland DIY
To make the pom pom garland DIY you will need these supplies:
- Yarn
- Scissors
- Pom pom maker, see my favorites above
How to make a pom pom
Step 1. The first step in making the DIY pom pom garland is to learn how to make an individual pom pom. We are using the pom pom maker for this, but if you’d rather not there are directions below for another way about it.
Using your lime green yarn, wrap one side of your pom pom maker
Step 2. On the second side, wrap a few rounds of your white yarn in the center
Step 3. Then grab your black and white yarn and wrap both colors around completely.
Step 4. Use your scissor to cut along the middle of your pom pom maker.
Step 5. With your extra piece of string tie a tight knot, securing the pom pom piece together.
Step 6. Trim the excess pieces of the pom pom.
And now for the fun party making these individual pom poms into a fruity fun DIY pom pom garland.
How to make lemon pom poms
To make a DIY pom pom garland out of the cute lemon pom poms you can follow the video example above or simply… make the DIY lemon pom poms follow the steps above, only using yellow yarn to make the poms.
- Cut a small leaf shape out of green felt.
- Cut a small slit in the leaf and then string the long tied yard through the leaf, tie to tighten it.
How to make watermelon pom poms
The DIY watermelon pom pom garland is super easy to make and a fun color piece for summer.
Simply follow the steps fro making the Kiwi pom poms above, but replace the colors to match those of a watermelon. One side green and the other pink and black.
How to make cherry pom poms
The cherry pom pom garland DIY is so cute for any occasion. To make it you’ll leave the long strand you tie in the center of the pom pom (see trim step above, but don’t trim that piece).
- Cut a small leaf shape out of green felt.
- Cut a small slit in the leaf about 80% of the way to one side and string it just over the top of the long piece before ties onto the garland.
- Hang by 2’s with one leaf attached to 2 cute cherries.
And in case your not interested in purchasing a pom pom maker or don’t have the time to wait for it. You can always make the pom poms the old fashion way, with your fingers or with a fork!
How to make a pom pom with a fork
To make the DIY pom pom garland without a pom maker.
- First wrap yarn around the fork to create a thick and tight circle.
- Then remove the yarn circle from the fork and run the length of the yarn tightly around the center to form the homemade pom pom ball.
- Tie this string tightly, Then trim all the cut all ends, and fan the pom-pom poof into place.
PS. My favorite pom pom crafter if you’d rather buy your pom poms already crafted.
