We are still in candy coma recovery mode over here, but I am stoked to jump into a festive new season of holiday hoopla this week. While we put the finishing touches on a couple projects this weekend, I thought you might like to see this festive little dresser update we did recently. Leather strips and screws + a bit of paint turned a thrift store dresser into one of my favorite pieces. Perfect for the little ones room.

The process of making these drawer pulls was so simple. I purchased a bag of leather scraps from the craft store and simply created looped bows with each one. The ends are tied tightly in back, and then a small, flat bottom screw was glued into the back end of each bow. I was sure to get the screws tightly into the ties of the bows and glued with superglue for a tight fit.

The tutorial could be easily adapted for making leather bow hair barrettes, leather bows for wrapping, or a pretty leather bow necklace.

A nut was used on the back end to hold each leather bow into place. They really bring a festive punch to the piece and brighten up one of my favorite rooms in our house.

  1. Absolutely love!! I’m wondering if I could adapt this to be a single pull on drawers and about how much leather is needed per drawer pull. Thanks for all the lovely posts!
