Why don’t we… infuse a lemon drop cocktail

Floral infused lemon drop cocktail

Have you ever tried a lemon drop cocktail? I had one last week with an added touch of floral water. It was fabulous! My favorite new drink, for sure, and a great option to serve at a party. The lemon drop cocktail is refreshing in itself, and it tastes even better when mixed with floral infused water. The glasses look gorgeous served with edible flower garnish.

Lemons have been thrown into the spotlight lately. Every health expert I know has been screaming about their health qualities. From clearing up acne to helping you slim down, lemons are it! Health points plus a stellar drink all in one. I’ll cheers to that. Why don’t we…

For one drink you will need;

  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 oz Gin
  • 1 oz lemon floral water
  • 1 sugar cube
  • Lemon slices and edible flower tops for garnish

Make the lemon floral water by combining 3 cups of water with sliced lemons and a handful of edible flowers in a large pitcher.

My favorite edible flowers to use in the chocolate mint terrarium cake are pansies. Here is a good list of common edible flowers you should be able to find and use throughout the year.

Cover the pitcher and allow to sit for 2-4 hours before adding it to the cocktails. This allows enough time for the water to take on the taste of the lemons and the floral notes of the flowers, for a subtle sip that is great in the cocktail or on its own.

Mix the first four ingredients in a cocktail shaker or mason jar fitted with lid. Shake with ice. Strain into the glass and add one thin sliced lemon and a couple flower tops to garnish.

For a virgin lemon drop cocktail option – serve the infused water with a splash of club soda and top with the lemon and flower drink garnish. The infused water is so good, you’ll hardly even miss the gin.

PS. Pairs well with Lemon cake and peppermint lemon sticks. Also try out this Paloma Cocktail for a fun spring drink.
