Summer Party Balloon Stakes

There’s not much that beats a bunch of balloons on a stick (except maybe ice cream on a stick!) These balloon stakes are so much fun and a perfect introduction to any party this summer. They stick right into the ground, so showing guests the way up to your door is a cinch.

I placed a couple stakes around the yard while we hosted a birthday party recently and they instantly livened up the space. The massively stacked balloons made the birthday girl feel extra special.

Outdoor balloon stakes

The best part about these outdoor balloon stakes is that they don’t use any helium! No helium makes any balloon project so much easier. It means no last minute run to the party store and you can literally make hundreds of them for ten or twenty dollars. Check out my step-by-step instructions for creating your own balloon stakes right here.

Just ignore the weeds in my yard. They are so long that they’ve moved from annoying to magical – especially when staked with balloons.

  1. This is a great idea! I did go over to see the directions for making the balloon stakes…great tutorial! I noticed that you joined two stakes together in some cases to elevate the balloons above the “magical” weeds. I think you went to Disney recently…we are going soon and I find myself using the word “magical” more and more the closer it gets to going.

    • Kitty, Yes we did:) The weeds are really long! EEK! Going to try to tackle that this weekend, but until then – definitely believing they are magical! xoxo

  2. Yay for no helium! I’m always the party pooper that won’t have them because I’d like there to be enough for medical machines to use in the future.

  3. You state to use a 4 foot long dowels but you don’t specify how heavy/thick the dowel should be. I got 3/8 dowels but I’m worrried they are too heavy. Can you please advise?
    Thanks!
