We had a couple friends over last week for a pumpkin carving party. Unfortunately, I didn’t get many photos of the action as kids yielding sharpies and knives floating around took a bit of attention (remind me to use paint next year!). They had a lot of fun playing and pretending to cut. We spent most of the incredibly nice afternoon on the front lawn with a large tarp carving away.
I got excited about cooking with pumpkins for the party and made carved out pumpkins to bake with cinnamon and bread inside, pumpkin fries and a nice stash of roasted pumpkin seeds. The fries came out awesome! There was also plenty of candy stuffed into a larger version of the paper mache pumpkin, a festive pinata that we later threw up and busted open with a stick.
blessings.

October 27, 2011 at 11:12 amThanks girls. The fries were a random last minute idea but they came out super awesome! I skinned a pumpkin and cut it into slices, tossed with cinnamon, oil and salt and baked them at 400 for about 40 minutes. The taste was surprising since I am so used to sweet potato fries but really good!

October 27, 2011 at 12:14 pmI probably should have used paint this year, too…But then there wouldn’t be any pumpkin fries! What a delicious idea!
