Turkey Rosettes

Turkey Rosettes

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year. Matt is the chef in our family so I end up with a bit of extra time on my hands to drink wine, I mean…. set the table. ;) These little turkey rosettes are a fun way to mark places and decorate the dinning room.

The crafting steps are easy enough that the kids can help to make them, which is great, since keeping the kids busy is a very important part of Thanksgiving running smoothly.

Make one turkey rosette for each guest with a small name flag attached, or make a handful of them to spread out like confetti. They can even be made into pie box wrappers and notecard attachments for expressing thanks if it’s not your table being set.

  1. Download the PDF file. Please use Adobe Reader to open the file.
  2. Print the pages onto card stock.
  3. Carefully trim the template according to their shapes using scissors and x-acto knife.
  4. Take a short end of one of the rectangle shapes and fold it in on the next colour, back and forth, in an accordion effect as if you were making a paper fan. Do this to all of the rectangle shapes.
  5. Take one side of the paper fan, and stick a double sided tape on the back of the last stripe. Stick the adhered side onto another end of a fan.
  6. Repeat with all the paper fans to form one circle – This is the base of your turkey rosette.
  7. Glue the back of the bigger round.
  8. While using one of your hands to push in the fan circle closer to the centre, stick the bigger round onto the centre. You might need to hold the fan circle longer to make sure they stick. Also, you can turn it around and put more glue on the hollow part of the back.

After the rosette base and the bigger round are dry, stick the Turkey’s face and two wings on the bigger round. If you wish, you can write down a short message or name of the guests on the extra white flag provided and stick it on the rosette. Set these adorable guys out at the next feast for a colorful way to set the table.
