Do you make gingerbread houses or have some sort of fun and edible family tradition? We were looking for a new one this year and Hostess challenged us to create our own tradition using their yummy goodies. The kids were thrilled to work with a favorite treat and we spent the afternoon together to make these Twinkie and Ho-Ho Christmas trees. They are much simpler than a gingerbread house for little fingers to manage and quite a bit sweeter too!
The trees are a fun and festive centerpiece for our holiday table and the twins are so proud of their crafty work. Now if I can just keep them from snacking on the trees until Christmas Day. Creating them together was a fun memory and a new tradition for our family.
While crafting we needed to enjoy a holiday drink as well. Cocoa topped with a powdered Hostess Donnettes set a fun family crafting vibe. Before we started, I ran out to Target to grab the Hostess supplies I needed; the ornament stars, the coconut flakes for snow, and the green tree frosting. The only other material needed to create these holiday trees are triangle foam floral trees in various sizes.
To make the Twinkie and Ho-Ho trees, start by cutting the sweets into about 1/2 inch pieces.
Next cover the foam tree with a thick layer of green cake frosting. Then begin placing the sweets along the tree base working up as you go. Finally, fill in the holes with a cookie decorating frosting to finish off the trees.
Top each tree with a simple star ornament and set out on a plate (or cutting board) filled with coconut flakes for a tasteful and gorgeous centerpiece display.

I love that snowman mug! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
Audrey, Thanks! They are a couple years old, but still a favorite around our house:)
Any reason you didn’t use a sugar cone base? (Then you could eat the whole thing!)
Shawn, Great idea! I don’t think I’ve ever seen on this big, but I bet you could make it from scratch! That would be totally worth the effort:)
