These Heart-Shaped Mini Cherry Pies are exactly what you need for your special someone this Valentine’s Day.
Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees.
In a small bowl, mix together cream cheese, 2 tbsp of sugar, and vanilla extract. Set aside.
Sprinkle a little bit of flour on your work surface and unroll your pie crust onto the flour.
We used a rolling pin to make our dough smoother and a tad bit thinner.
Using a cookie cutter, cut out as many pieces as you can. You can always keep squeezing together the scraps and re-rolling the dough to cut out more hearts.
Place your first layer of dough onto your non-stick baking sheet.
You can use a piping bag or spoon out the cream cheese mixture and cherry filling onto the bottom layer of dough. (Make sure to stay clear of the edges)
Use your beaten egg to lightly coat the edge of the bottom layer of dough.
Add the top dough layer and use your fingers or a fork to crimp the edged of the pies.
Cut two slits in the top of each pie. This lets the steam out as they cook so they don't burst.
You can add a drizzle of icing by simply mixing together powdered sugar, milk, and food coloring. Just mix together powdered sugar and milk until you reach the desired consistency.
