why I teach

We just finished our Summer Business of Blogging Classes, and they were incredible! Due to the great responses we’ve received, we’ve opened up three fall classes in September, October and November. You can read more about the classes here.

Like many of you, blogging has brought such joy to my life as I’ve developed a wonderful outlet for all my creative projects and ideas. Making the shift from running this blog as a fun hobby to running it as a business brought with it many challenges, sleepless nights, and a lot of hard work. It has also brought my family the ability to move forward with a lifestyle we have always dreamed of. I’ve made some mistakes along the way and I’ve done some things really well. Not giving up and taking the intimidating steps to become a full-time blogger has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

A student in last month’s class said, “You opened my eyes to a lot of the details, and the greater picture of the blogging world. How would anyone know these things unless someone sat down and taught them? Thank you.” It is an amazing opportunity we have in this day and age to be at home with kids, with no start up money and yet with a strong passion- build a business that can support our families ideals and plans. It is crazy and I pinch myself everyday!

This is why I’ve started teaching the Business of Blogging classes and why I am teaching classes for Alt, and why I’ve taken on the role of content manager for their new blog. Because I so strongly believe in this path and want to help as many others along as possible. What scary creative steps have you taken lately? I’d love to know.

  1. I love that! I’m from a teaching background as well! Since we moved to Denver this year for my husband’ work, I haven’t been able to find a teaching job. I’m disappointed about it, but I’m trying to use it as an opportunity to explore other interests like music and fitness.

  2. I always love how much positive energy you put into your work. I think I’ve been following almost from the beginning and yes it is amazing how you’ve managed to make this into a fulfilling full-time job. Congratulations and looking forward to all you have in store. Are you going to be at ALT NYC?

    • Giulia, thanks girl:) No, I won’t be at Alt NYC. I am so sad we weren’t able to make it work. I am actually going to be in the city that week and going to a fun blogger meetup on Saturday but we had to head home before the conference. Have fun though. I’m sure it will be AMAZING!

  3. My scary step? I JUST started my blog! Like you, I’m loving that I can *finally* fulfill my creative energy. But, there is sooooo much to learn. A HUGE congrats on your success!
