Have you seen the new Odosketch? It is a free site where you can try your hand at sketching using a very pretty color palette. The sketched files can be saved to be embed and used online. When you draw, each brush stroke is saved independently, making for cute animated films. You could also save the final illustrations for use in a future printed project. It would be fun to custom sketch a little something for wedding favors, or party invites.
