The magical, make believe world of child’s mind can lend itself to the most enchanting of parties. Unicorns prancing around a living room floor, for example, transport us back to the days of dress up, knights and the whimsical world of a princess.
Carly, photographer extraordinaire, who you see around here often, has a baby girl who just turned one. To celebrate she threw a unicorn and tutu party, with loads of amazing details. It was a fabulously fun party to conceptualize with Carly. Sadly, the day of, a bridge closure prevented me from attending, but she did an amazing job styling and photographing it to share with you!
I lieu of birthday hats paper unicorn cones were made, the children adored a chance to pretend as they romped about the room wearing them. We found the perfect metallic unicorn balloon, which floated along with pretty paper poms above the tables.
The dessert table featured a rainbow cake made by Nichole, designed specifically in the pretty color palette. Taffy, rock candy and other goodies were offered to keep things sweet.
Ice cream cones dipped in white chocolate and made to look like horns were the perfect favors for guests. Wrapped up with gold they became a sweet treat to take home.
Thank for for sharing these beautiful party photos Carly!

So many cute ideas!
Those unicorn cone favors are genius!
Love that cake! I think my daughter would love to have a rainbow party and that cake is so perfect. The decorated ice cream cones are also awesome.
I love the way the theme is all pulled together for the Unicorn Party. That cake with the different colored layers is fantastic. A great way to do that would be to use the Nutri-Fruit Freeze Dried Fruit Powders to color and flavor them. I am addicted to working with them and they’re 100% real fruit so better for the kids than food coloring.
How did you make the unicorn hats? They are so pretty!
I’d also like to know how the unicorn hats were made!! They’re great!
Im throwing a unicorn party for my 4 yr old and would loe to know how to do the unicorn hats.. Im creative but for some reason having trouble making this i need about 20……got so many cute ideas here….

We are planning a unicorn party for my daughter’s 5th birthday–these photos are beautiful! We are planning a treasure/scavenger hunt to find the lost Unicorn. To give each child a Unicorn Horn to wear during the search would be so awesome! Please share a tutorial on how they were made–what kind of paper, how is the elastic attached, etc. Thanks!!
